OUTPUT SHAFT END FLOAT
CHECK
- Remove the road wheel.
- Fit and align the magnetic dial gauge to the lower plate, repositioning the dial gauge to the output shaft flange (Fig 2).
- Tighten the dial gauge adjusting nuts and, using a suitable lever, check and note the output shaft end float.
- The correct end float should be 0.001 -0.006 in (this end float is pre-set, built into the bearing).
- If the end float is outside the given tolerances, the output shaft bearing must be renewed.
- Refit the road wheel.
