3.New Top Installation:
FIG. 1:
^ Position the top on the vehicle, installing the pins into the header rail anchorage point.
^ Install but do not tighten the two top bolts securing each top mounting to the body, (fig. 1 B).
^ Position the cylinders to the top mounting brackets.
^ With Manual operation selected on the pump valve, partially open the top. Align the cylinder upper mountings and insert the bolts. Do not tighten bolts.
^ Position the cylinder pivot brackets and insert the mounting bolts, (fig. 1 A).
^ Tighten all bolts.
^ Position the rear window support brackets and insert the bolts. Do not tighten bolts.
^ Position the rear quarter headliner retainer brackets. Insert the bolts and tighten.
^ Apply adhesive to the edge of the headliner and adhere to the body aperture flange.
^ With Manual operation selected on the pump valve, fully raise the top. Select Electric operation on the pump valve to hold the top in position.
FIG. 2:
^ Position the rear of the top to the body, and thread the cable through the loops. Position the loops, (fig. 2).
^ Thread the cable through the top and into the mounting brackets. Loosely install locknuts.
^ To perform cable adjustment, two wooden blocks (Tools "A" and "B") should be used. These tools should be made to the following dimensions:
NOTE: To protect vehicle paint, a soft fabric should be adhered or screwed to the tool as indicated in fig. 3.
^ Using tool "A", progressively dress the top rim while tightening the locknuts to to a torque of 4.5 N-m.
^ Position the cable using tool "B". When correctly installed, the top should neatly fit to the body flange with the cable unexposed.
FIG. 5:
^ Install the exterior top finishers by aligning the top and locating the screw hole. Insert and tighten screw. When in position, the top rim will fit up to the flange of the rear quarter glass seal, (fig. 5).
CAUTION: To prevent top damage, ensure that the rubber cap (BDC 9031) is installed over the point of each screw.
Apply adhesive to carpets and secure into position.
Adjust the rear window support brackets to eliminate any wrinkles in the material. Tighten bolts.
^ Insert the rods into the inner curtains and secure with plastic clips. Secure the side curtain straps.
^ Reinstall rear stowage and lower trim panels.
