Open the boot and disconnect the battery earth lead.

Open the passenger door and remove the footwell carpet.

Displace the draught welting from the 'A' post.

Remove the 'A' post lower trim pad (1 Fig 1).

Remove the nuts/bolts securing the ECU cover and displace the cover.

Disconnect the ECU multiplug connector (1 Fig 2).

Disconnect the ECU vacuum pipe (2 Fig 2).

Remove the ECU/cover assembly (3 Fig 2).

Remove the nuts securing the ECU to the cover.

Remove the ECU.

Fit the new ECU to the cover. Refit the cover.

Connect the vacuum pipe and multi-plug.

Fit the ECU/cover into position. Fit and tighten the nuts/bolts.

Refit the trim pad and draught welting.

Reposition the carpet.

Connect the battery earth lead.
