On Screen Measurement Display

On screen measurement display enables JDS to display measurement probe readings during a diagnostic routine. This feature is triggered automatically when the "M" key on the measurement probe is pressed to take a reading. This function is not available with either the current probe, reference probe or the measurement probe when used in conjunction with an adaptor.

The sequence of operations up to the point at which the "M" key is pressed remain unaltered from previous software releases. When the "M" key is pressed, the JDS display will change from the screen indicating which wire to probe, to the measurement screen. This measurement screen will display the reading taken by the measurement probe in the appropriate units. The actual units used will be displayed at the top of the screen. The reading may be retaken as many times as required simply by pressing the "M" key. Each time a new reading is stored, the display will change to show the new value.

To re-check which pin should be probed, the "down arrow" key should be used. This will cause JDS to return to the previous screen.

The "up arrow" key should be used when the measurement has been correctly taken. This enables JDS to perform any calculations required on the measurement and continue onto the next stage in the diagnostic routine.

The screen used to display the measurements (while similar to the multimeter screens), has been simplified in a number of ways. The bar graph at the top of the screen has been removed. All of the displays are now shown in major units, e.g., ..volts as opposed to millivolts. For further details on these and other display changes, refer to the section on the multimeter mode.
