Throttle Plate - PFI: Adjustments
Idle Air Components:
1. Remove air valve to manifold hose and supplementary air valve hose from air intake elbow.
2. Loosen clamps securing air mass meter hose and throttle housing hose.
3. Remove nut securing elbow to mounting bracket and remove elbow from air mass meter.
4. Remove elbow and hose assembly from throttle housing.
5. Loosen nut securing throttle cable to manifold bracket.
6. Loosen kick down cable lock nut.
NOTE: Be sure both cables do not restrict linkage adjustment.
7. Loosen throttle stop lock nut.
8. Adjust air gap between butterfly valve and side of throttle housing. Gap should be:
0.002 in (0.05 mm)
9. Tighten stop screw lock nut and recheck clearence.
Throttle Valve Adjust:
10. Fit Jaguar special tool JD131, or equivalent, to throttle stop plate and align pointer with "I" mark, as shown.
11. Loosen full throttle stop screw lock nut.
Throttle Valve Adjust:
12. Fully open throttle and adjust full throttle stop screw to align pointer with "A" for automatic transmission cars or "M" for manual transmission cars.
13. Release throttle and tighten full throttle stop screw.
14. Remove special tool.
15. Check kick down cable adjustment. Adjust cable adjusting nut to obtain proper gap between outer cable housing and inner cable crimp slip ring, as measured with feeler gauge. Measured gap should be:
0.030 in (0.76 mm)
16. Tighten lock nut.
17. Refit cable dust cover.
18. Checking and adjustment throttle potentiometer requires use of Jaguar Diagnostic System.
19. Refit and align elbow and hose assembly to throttle housing and tighten clamps.
20. Connect elbow to air mass meter and tighten clamp.
21. Fit elbow to rubber mounting and tighten nut.
22. Refit breather hose and supplementary air valve hose to elbow.
23. Check base idle speed.
