Front Dampers - Replacement - Individually or In Pairs

MODEL 88 MY-onwards Sedans DATE 11/91


ISSUE:

When one front suspension damper is faulty it may be necessary to replace the pair.

The front damper specification was changed at VIN 620320.


ACTION:

When replacing a front damper it is necessary to note the vehicle mileage, the mileage when the dampers were installed and the part number on each front damper (stamped at the base of the lower tube).

Then refer to the following guidelines:

^ Replace only the damaged damper when: the undamaged damper part number is CBC 8301 and its mileage is less than 25,000 miles.

^ Replace the axle pair when: the mileage of the undamaged damper is more than 25,000 miles or its part number is NOT CBC 8301.
