WASHER FLUID RESERVOIR

KEY POINTS: INTRODUCTION OF NEW 7 LITER RESERVOIR


ISSUE:

A 7 liter washer fluid reservoir is used on XJ6 and Sovereign vehicles beginning with VIN 610400.

The 7 liter reservoir should be used for ALL reservoir replacements.

ACTION:

Use the following procedure for 7 liter reservoir installation:

^ Make sure the neck of the lower reservoir has a smooth inside surface and has no molding faults.

^ Always install a new sealing ring (JLM 1243) when replacing the upper and/or lower reservoirs.

^ Lubricate the sealing ring with liquid soap.


NOTE: Avoid twisting the sealing ring when installing the upper and lower reservoirs.


^ Make sure that the rod support threads are clean. Install and tighten mounting bolts to 1-3 N-m (1-2.5 ft.lbs.).


NOTE: DO NOT overtighten mounting bolts.

When installing a new 7 liter reservoir (lower) on a pre-VIN 610400 XJ6 or Sovereign, the following parts are required:

Rod Support DBC 2731
Rod Support DBC 2732
Reservoir JLM 2261
Sealing Ring JLM 1243
