Revised Water Pump - Center Gasket -
Do Not Fit Gasket to Old Style Pump
SUPERSEDES: TECHNICAL BULLETIN 26-9
ISSUE:
A revised water pump assembly has been introduced on 4.0 liter engines beginning with engine number 157275.
The new pump assembly has a gasket between the two pump halves. RTV sealant was used previously.
NOTE:
The rear half of the revised pump assembly is machined to compensate for gasket thickness.
ACTION:
^ When replacing or resealing a revised water pump, use gasket part number EBC 9220. The gasket MUST be used.
^ When replacing or resealing an RTV sealed water pump, reseal with RTV sealant. DO NOT install a gasket.
^ Torque the water pump bolts to 16-21 ft.lbs.

Replace water pump 26.50.01: 1.40 hrs.
Reseal water pump 26.50.02: 1.35 hrs.
