Radiator: Service and Repair

- Drain the cooling system (radiator only). Service and Repair
- Remove the fan cowl assembly. Service and Repair
- Remove the clip securing the upper transmission (if fitted) cooler pipe to the lower cooler pipe.
- Displace the protective covers from the 'quickfit' connectors and using plastic Service Tool JD 182 (1 Fig. 2) remove the power assisted steering (PAS) and automatic transmission (where fitted) cooling pipe unions.
Procedure: 'open' the plastic tool and fit around the pipe (2 Fig. 2). Turn the tool clockwise and anti-clockwise while pushing into the radiator boss (3 Fig. 2). Push / turn the tool into the boss until resistance is felt,the pipe retaining fingers in the radiator boss will then be released and the pipe can be pulled from the radiator (4 Fig. 2), complete with the tool. Plug the apertures in the pipes and the radiator.
- Disconnect the expansion tank hose from the radiator.
- Release the clips securing the bottom and top hoses to the radiator and pull the hoses clear.
- Remove the clips.

- Remove the top panel securing washers and seven screws (1 Fig. 3), remove the top panel and lift out the radiator assembly (Fig. 4).
- Remove the radiator mounting rubbers and seals, and remove the thermostatic fans switch from the radiator.
- Renew the radiator mounting rubbers and fit the thermostatic fans switch to the radiator.
- Lower the new radiator (Fig. 4) into position, and refit the top panel. Secure with the washers and seven screws (1 Fig. 3).
- Fit the top and bottom hoses and secure with the hose clips.
- Remove the plugs from the PAS and automatic transmission (where fitted) cooling pipes, and push into their respective radiator bosses, and re-align the hoses connectors protective covers.
- Refit the clip securing the upper transmission (if fitted) cooler pipe to the lower cooler pipe.
- Refit the fan cowl assembly. Service and Repair
- Fit the drain plug to the radiator, and fill the cooling system. Service and Repair
