Fuel Pump Relay: Service and Repair

Location modifications per year

Note Model year 1992 may have one of two placements for the fuel pump relay; the follow are both procedures, dependant on if the relay is located in the engine compartment or the trunk.

Fuel Pump Relay in engine compartment

Renew 18.30.30

- Open the bonnet and disconnect the battery earth lead.

- Identify the fuel pump relay mounted adjacent to the brake pedal box.

- Displace the relay cover and remove the relay from the base connector (yellow).

- Fit the new relay to the base connector and replace the relay cover.

- Reconnect the battery earth lead and close the bonnet.


Fuel Pump Relay (FPR) in trunk

Renew 18.30.30




- Undo and remove the nuts securing the right hand rear lamp assembly inner cover.

- Remove the rear lamp inner cover (fig.1).

- Reposition upper rear corner of right hand boot side liner for access to fuel pump replay.

- Displace fuel pump relay from relay holder (the relay is mounted above the bulb failure module).

Installation

- Fitting a new relay is a reversal of the removal procedure.
