SUPERSEDES: Technical Bulletin 86-80
ISSUE:
Alpine radio security code entry and code label placement.
ACTION:
Whenever power is lost to the radio memory, a 4 digit security code must be entered to make the radio work. Use the following procedure to code the radio:
NOTE: If "CODE" is seen on the radio display, the radio must be re-coded. Re-coding must be done correctly within 3 attempts.
If the radio is not coded properly after 3 attempts, a "Beep" will be heard each time the radio button is depressed.
The ignition and radio must remain "ON" for at least one hour before additional coding attempts can be made.
1. Raise hood and locate the radio code label on the underside of the hood, Fig. 1 A & B. The radio code is comprised of the last 4 digits located in the bottom right corner of the label, Fig. 2.
Code Label (as seen attached to Security Package)
2. With the ignition and radio turned "ON" depress the radio buttons in the exact sequence as the code displayed on the label.
3. The radio will "Beep" when the final digit is depressed indicating that the proper code has been entered.
Replacement radios are supplied with new code labels and code security cards. Whenever a radio is replaced a new code label must be adhered to the underside of the hood and new security cards/packages must be placed in the glove box.
If it is suspected that a radio has been replaced but the radio code is unavailable, code information can be obtained by calling (201) 818-8300, or (415) 467-9402 after 4:30 pm EST.
