Wind Noise - Front Door Inner Waist Seals

MODEL: Sedan Range
DATE: 2/92

76-74

ISSUE:

Wind noise from the front doors caused by the inner waist seals not contacting the door glass.

ACTION:

New waist seals are available which provide an improved seal. Before installing these seals, confirm the customer complaint by:

^ Checking that the front door inner waist seal does not contact the door glass.

^ Road testing the vehicle with masking tape applied over the seal. This should eliminate the noise.

Repair Procedure

^ Remove the door top roll.

^ Slide out the inner waist seal and discard.

^ Insert the new waist seal.

^ Install the door top roll.

^ Road test the vehicle to confirm the repair.

NOTE:
New seals are also available for the rear doors, but the existing seals are usually adequate.

If wind noise from the cheater panel still occurs on 1989 MY Sedans up to VIN 594993, refer to Technical Bulletin 76-62.
