Front Seat - Fore/Aft Motor Inoperative - Seat Removal Procedure

ISSUE:

Removal of the front seats when fore and aft seat motor is inoperable (motor burnt out or seized).

ACTION:

If this problem exists, use the following procedure to remove the front seats:

^ Locate the two "tear drop" retainer plates for the seat gear drive shafts.

^ Remove the torx head screws that secure the tear drop retaining plates. Remove the hexagonal drive shafts with the tear drop plates.

^ The seat assembly can now be moved fore and aft. To remove the seats, refer to repair operation 76.70.20 in the XJS Repair Manual.

^ Operate the seat fully rearward then fully forward to reset the memory feedback potentiometer.
