Throttle Potentiometer - Initial Setting -

ISSUE:

Throttle voltage less than .28 volts may prevent completion of an engine set-up using JDS software issue 4045.

ACTION:

The throttle potentiometer must be set to a minimum of .28 volts to allow JDS to perform an engine set up. To achieve this, perform the following:

^ Using software issue 4045, connect JDS to the vehicle and enter multi-meter mode.

^ Switch ignition to position II.

^ Locate the green Sumitomo connector at the rear of the engine. Identify wires leading to the throttle potentiometer.

^ Carefully back-probe the green Sumitomo connector (LI66) pin 3 YW (Yellow/White) wire and note the voltage.

^ Adjust the throttle potentiometer until the voltage is between .28 and .32 volts.

^ Switch off the ignition.

^ Exit multi-meter mode.

^ Perform 5.3 liter engine set-up verifying proper throttle potentiometer setting.
