Engine Speed Sensor: Service and Repair

Engine Speed Sensor:

1. Disconnect battery negative cable (battery is in trunk).
2. Unplug connector and attach a drawstring to sensor plug.
3. Raise vehicle on hoist or jack up front and place on safety stands.
4. Remove heat shield.
5. Remove sensor mounting bolts and pull sensor from its mounting position. Remove wiring from retaining clips.
6. Pull sensor and wiring down until drawstring is accessible.
7. Attach new sensor wiring lead to drawstring. From the top, pull up drawstring and wiring.
8. Fit new sensor in position, tighten bolts, secure wiring in retaining clips and replace heat shield.
9. Remove drawstring, plug in harness connector and connect battery negative cable.
