Positive Crankcase Ventilation: Testing and Inspection

PCV System:

1. Remove PCV valve from vehicle.
2. Attach a hose to valve breather filter side and blow. Check that air passes through easily.

CAUTION: Do not suck through the valve. Inhaling petroleum substances can be injurious to health.

3. Reverse hose and blow from air cleaner side. Air should pass through with difficulty.
4. Replace the PCV valve if it fails either test.
5. Inspect PCV hoses, connections and gaskets for cracks, leaks or damage. Replace components as needed to maintain PCV system integrity.
