Erratic Trip Computer Fuel Mileage Readings -
ECU Injector Drive Circuit

ISSUE:

Erratic trip computer fuel mileage readings can occur due to poor connection of the fuel injector resistor pack.


Continued operation can cause the ETC injector drive circuit to burn out and one or both banks of injectors remaining open or shut. If this occurs, there will be no "click" noise from the affected injector bank and a no-start or poor running condition.

ACTION:

If any of the above conditions exist, perform the following operation:

^ Locate the fuel injector resistor pack at the right front corner of the engine compartment (against the headlight support).

^ Un-plug the resistor pack connector and inspect the terminal pins. Correct any pin damage in the harness plug.

^ Check the pins in the resistor pack by using a mirror or removing the resister from its mount. If the terminal pins are pushed back into the resistor pack, the pack must be replaced.
