STEP 5: Coupe only-
DOOR GLASS DOES NOT SLIDE FREELY IN CHANNEL:
Note:
A modified glass channel and door was introduced at VIN 176860. Only perform modifications on vehicles prior to VIN 176860.
^ Disengage the regulator assembly from the door glass. If movement is restricted (at point A. Fig. 1) modify the glass channel and door assembly.
^ Remove the lower channel.
NOTE:
Minimum channel width (Fig. 2) should be 19.8 mm to 20.8 mm.
^ Increase the channel width to 28 mm. Use pliers to open up each side of the channel equally (Fig. 3).
NOTE:
Do not exceed 28 mm to prevent the glass from jamming during upward travel.
^ Measure the upper door frame width (Fig. 4). The correct dimension is 19.5 mm to 20.5 mm.
^ If less than 19.5 mm, the door/window channel must be opened up using a 15 mm wide steel drift, (Fig. 5).
^ Using a pair of vise grips, twist the drift (Fig. 6) until a dimension of approximately 21 mm is reached (as indicated in Fig. 4).
^ Remove the drift and inspect for paint damage. If bare metal is exposed, Anti-Corrosive (ETCH) primer should be used prior to applying the proper black top coat (BASF code No. L21 K013).
^ Install the lower glass channel and a new seal. Adjust the channel so that the glass moves freely.
^ Install motor and regulator assembly. Check window operation.
