A/C System - R134A Refrigerant -
Introduction

MODEL:
93 MY Sedan

DATE:
11/92

The 1993 Model Year Sedan Range uses R134A refrigerant for the air conditioning system.

The following list of instructions and warnings will help to ensure proper maintenance and servicing of the system:

^ R134A and R-12 (freon) are not interchangeable and must never be mixed.

^ The compressors used for each system are different and cannot be interchanged, even though they physically look the same. R134A compressors have black painted clutch assemblies.

^ R134A systems use PAG (Poly Alkaloid Glycol) refrigerant lubricants. These lubricants will not mix with the mineral oils used in R-12 systems.

^ PAG lubricants are extremely hygroscopic (absorb moisture from the atmosphere). Do not use PAG oil from a container which has been left open. Always re-seal oil containers immediately after use. Replacement parts must also be kept sealed against atmospheric moisture. When installing replacement parts, always ensure that these parts and the refrigerant circuit are fully sealed until the replacement is complete.

^ If the refrigeration system is opened to the atmosphere other then for normal service work, i.e. due to accidental damage or system component failure, the compressor must be removed and the lubricant drained and replaced.

^ The vacuum pump incorporated on the recycling equipment should be serviced using premium grade high vacuum pump mineral oil only.

NOTE:
Failure to observe the above instructions and warnings may result in contamination and/or damage to both the vehicle A/C system and the recycling equipment.
