System componentsIntrusion ECU
Intrusion ECU:
The accessory dealer-installed intrusion ECU is microprocessor based, the software for which controls the intrusion and accessory inclination sensors. Via a serial link, the ECU reports violations to the security ECU. The intrusion ECU is located on the floor in front of the driver's seat
When the system is armed, the security ECU powers the intrusion ECU, which first runs a self-test. It then builds up an ultrasound "picture" of the interior of the vehicle based on inputs from the two intrusion sensors. If a rapid or large change to the interior picture occurs, the ECU sends an intrusion breach output to the security ECU indicating a violation has occurred. Very slow changes such as changes in temperature or humidity will not cause a violation alert. However, slow changes can temporarily reduce the sensitivity of the system.
Intrusion sensors
Intrusion Sensor:
Two accessory intrusion sensors are dealer-installed into the headliner above the B/C post on either side of the vehicle. These ultrasonic transducers are aimed primarily at the side windows and input to the intrusion ECU to create an ultrasound picture of the interior of the vehicle.
Inclination sensor
The accessory dealer-installed inclination sensor is a microprocessor based sensor that detects a change of the vehicle angle and inputs to the intrusion ECU. The sensor remembers the angle at which the vehicle was parked when the security system was armed and monitors for a change in angle of greater than two degrees. The inclination sensor is located in the trunk on the ABS ECU bracket at the left side.
Shock sensor
The accessory dealer-installed shock sensor senses impacts and jarring motions and inputs directly to the security system ECU. The shock sensor is installed above the inclination sensor.
Key fob RF transmitter
The transmitter has a single button to operate all system functions. Since it is an RF transmitter, it does not have to be aimed at the vehicle. The maximum range of the transmitter is approximately 40 feet made possible by an integral antenna in the lower left corner of the rear window.
Security sounder
The sounder is a powerful speaker located to the rear of the left headlight.
Warning LED
The red LED is mounted on the same circuit board as the climate control solar sensor. The LED flashes once every four seconds when the security system is armed, or when the system locks the doors in the security OFF mode.
Security switch
This switch, located in the center console storage box, operates only when the system is disarmed. In the OFF position, the switch will inhibit the operation of the security system and allow remote locking, headlight convenience and trunk release only.
