Compressor Drive Belt
Compressor Drive BeltRemoval
- Disconnect battery earth lead.
- Loosen the compressor upper pivot bolt (1).
^ Torque: 47-57 Nm (34.6-42 ft lb)
- Raise the front of the vehicle. From underneath, loosen the compressor lower pivot bolt (2).
^ Torque: 47-57 Nm (34.6-42 ft lb).
- Loosen the adjusting strap securing bolt (3).
^ Torque: 47-57 Nm (34.6-42 ft lb).
- Loosen the trunnion to compressor securing bolt (4), (Remove this fixing and swing the compressor towards the engine if the drive belt is to be to removed).
^ Torque: 47-57 Nm (34.6-42 ft lb)
Installation/Adjustment
- Adjust the belt tension by means of the trunnion lock nuts to the following specification: (All figures apply to a cold belt).
^ Borroughs method: New belt 59 to 64 kg, Used belt - If tension is below 36 kg, reset at 52 to 54 kg.
^ Clavis method: New belt 147 to 153 hz Used belt - If tension is below 110Hz, reset at 132 to 138 Hz.
- With the belt tension set within the above limits, tighten all fixings to the correct torque.
- Trunion lock nuts, torque to 11-15 Nm (8.1-11 ft lb).
