Heater/Cooler Unit



Heater/Cooler unit

Disconnect the battery earth lead.
As required, depressurise the air conditioning system.

WARNING: DO NOT VENT REFRIGERANT DIRECTLY TO ATMOSPHERE AND ALWAYS USE JAGUAR APPROVED RECOVERY/RECYCLE/RECHARGE EQUIPMENT AND WEAR SUITABLE EYE AND SKIN PROTECTION. DO NOT MIX HFC 134A WITH CFC 12. OBSERVE ALL APPLICABLE SAFETY REQUIREMENTS.

Remove in order:
Right and left dash liners, noting that on USA vehicles the passenger dash liner armature must be removed
Steering wheel Service and Repair
Center fascia ventilator assembly Service and Repair
Center console assembly Service and Repair
Fascia board
Remove for access the left and right footwell duct outlet RH and LH Service and Repair
Drain coolant. Service and Repair
Detach the expansion valve from the evaporator. Service and Repair
Disconnect the heater water hoses.
Disconnect vacuum hoses at the bulkhead from; water valve, inlet manifold, and vacuum tank.
Remove the passenger side blower motor noting that irrespective of the vehicle being RH or LH drive, it is the passenger blower motor that must be removed. Service and Repair
Remove the A/C unit to fascia strut right side, processor to bulkhead tie strapand fascia strut LH
Remove steering column to gearbox tunnel brace.
At the driver side blower motor disconnect; the actuator vacuum pipe, pliable trunking, and electrical harness multiplug.
Remove dash liner mounting brackets and disconnect condensation drain tubes right and left.
Disconnect the A/C unit bulkhead multiplug and pull the A/C unit rearward.
Unclip positive cable from the A/C unit and remove the unit from the vehicle.

Fitting the new evaporator is the reversal of the removal procedure
Fill and bleed the engine cooling system with coolant.

Evacuate and recharge the system in accordance with GENERAL SYSTEM PROCEDURES and your charge station manufacturer's operating instructions.
