A/C System - Inoperative - Diagnostic Procedure

MODEL:
93 MY Sedans

DATE:
8/93

ISSUE:

With the introduction of the R-134A A/C system, certain components may be overlooked when diagnosing complaints of no A/C.

ACTION:

Refer to the flow chart to diagnose A/C system complaints using a DVOM and your A/C service equipment.

The following list of components and their locations are provided to aid you in your diagnosis:

^ Compressor clutch relay - passenger side bulkhead in engine compartment (green base/blue relay).

^ AC3 - on climate control unit at right side of A/C unit.

^ FE6 - adjacent to the compressor.

^ FE16 - on the trinary switch flylead, located on the passenger side of the engine compartment on top of the frame rail.

NOTE:
If the system fuses are blown, verify that it is possible to turn the compressor by hand when the clutch is disengaged. If this is possible, ensure that there are no grounded wires in the harness. Refer to the flow chart for additional information.

If all diagnostic tests show no fault, then replace the relay.
