Toe-In


Fig. 1 Toe-in Adjustment:






1. With tires inflated properly and wheels in straight-ahead position, remove the access plug from steering rack adjuster nut and insert rack centralizing tool No. 12279 or equivalent, Fig. 1.
2. Slowly turn steering wheel until tool locates itself in recess in rear of rack.
3. Check toe-in.
4. If adjustment is necessary, loosen the locknuts at the outer ends of tie rods and loosen clips holding tie rod retaining bracket.
5. Turn tie rods an equal amount until alignment is within specifications.
6. Tighten locknuts while holding tie rod spanner flats.
7. Ensure boots are not twisted, then tighten clips.
8. Remove centralizing tool and install access plug.
