Pressure Plate: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Remove rear transmission and clutch assembly from vehicle as described under ``Transmission, Replace.''
2. Hold flywheel in one position and remove bolts securing clutch cover to flywheel.
3. Note position of balance weights, then remove balance weights.
4. Remove clutch cover and driveplate assembly.
5. Remove eight flywheel securing bolts, then the flywheel, if necessary.


INSTALLATION

1. Install new pilot bushing in flywheel, if removed.
2. Install flywheel on crankshaft. Tighten to specifications.
3. Install clutch assembly to flywheel, ensuring rounded boss faces the flywheel. Align clutch using a suitable clutch alignment tool, then install balance weights, if removed.
4. Tighten clutch assembly bolts to specifications.
5. Remove clutch alignment tool, then replace clutch release bearing.
6. Place transmission in third gear, then install transmission into vehicle. Tighten to specifications.
