Cylinder Heads and Gaskets - Added Cooling Holes - Use Correct Parts for Revised Engines

4.0L AJ6 Engines

ISSUE:

Four extra cooling holes have been added to the exhaust side of the cylinder head and block between bores 1-2, 2-3, 4-5 and 5-6, on 4.0L AJ6 engines beginning with engine number 165056 (approximate VIN 670000, early 1993 MY).

CAUTION:
Use of head gaskets or cylinder heads without the added cooling holes on later engines will cause overheating.

ACTION:

Use only head gasket EBC 10256 or gasket kit JLM 11088 for engines that have added cooling holes.

The cylinder head and/or head gasket with added cooling holes can be used on any AJ6 engine.

NOTE:
Jaguar Parts Distribution Centers supply the later head gaskets and kits. However, existing dealer stock may include early gaskets without added cooling holes. These must not be used on engines after engine number 165056.
