Revised Water Pump - Center Gasket -
Do Not Fit Gasket to Old Style Pumps

ISSUE:

A revised water pump assembly has been introduced on 4.0 liter Sedan engines beginning with engine number 157275 (approx. VIN 660000).

The new pump assembly has a gasket between the two pump halves. RTV sealant was used previously.

ACTION:

When replacing an RTV sealed pump with a revised pump, install only a complete pump assembly (EBC 8550).

NOTE:
DO NOT install a gasket to an RTV sealed pump. DO NOT combine a revised pump (front half) with an existing housing (rear half).

When installing a revised water pump assembly, torque ALL of the water pump bolts for even gasket compression.

Torque Specification - Water Pump Bolts:
21.5 - 28.5 N-m
(16 - 21 ft.lbs.)
