Squeaks & Rattles - Noise from Harness &
Airbag Frame - Repair Procedure

ISSUE:

Some 1995 MY Sedan Range vehicles within the above VIN range may experience noise caused by the vehicle harness rubbing against both the body processor module and the passenger airbag module.

ACTION:

After verifying a customer complaint of squeaking from the dashboard, proceed as follows:

REPAIRING HARNESS & AIRBAG FRAME SQUEAKS

1. Disconnect the vehicle battery.

2. Remove the underscuttle panel or glove box.





3. Disconnect the airbag harness, remove the bolts and nut (illustration 1) and remove the deployment door. Place the door on a soft surface to ensure the veneer will not be damaged.

4. Remove the passenger airbag module.

5. Remove the passenger footwell duct.

6. Remove the securing pin (Illustration 1) from the mounting bracket and lower the body processor module to provide access to the harness.

7. Hold the harness away from the bracket and apply a closed cell foam pad to the harness (Illustration 1).

8. Raise the body processor module and reinsert the securing pin.

9. After removing the two securing bolts and disconnecting the two harness connectors, remove the SRS Diagnostic Monitor.

10. Apply an adhesive open cell foam pad to the lower edge of the module (Illustration 1) and reinstall the SRS Diagnostic Monitor.

11. Reconnect the airbag harness.

12. Reinstall the airbag module and the deployment door.

13. Reinstall the glovebox or underscuttle panel.

14. Reconnect the battery and reset the clock.
