Fuel Filter: Service and Repair

- Open the luggage compartment and displace the right-hand front side liner.
- Displace the fuel pump relay (silver relay on black/yellow base) from mounting at rear of hockey stick panel and remove the relay.
- Crank the engine to depressurize the fuel system.
- Reposition the relay and disconnect the battery earth lead.
- Empty the fuel tank into an explosive proof container using suitable fireproof equipment.
- Raise the vehicle on a ramp.
- Filter assembly is located underbody, LHS, forward of the axle carrier.

Fig. 2 Fuel Filter:

- Undo and remove the filter to fuel tank feed pipe union (1 Fig. 2), remove and discard O-ring seal.
- Fit blanking plugs to feed pipe and filter.
- Undo and remove the fuel feed pipe to filter union (2 Fig. 2), remove and discard O-ring seal.
- Fit blanking plugs to feed pipe and filter.
- Remove the filter mounting clamp bolt (3 Fig. 2) and remove the assembly.
- Reverse the previous operations to fit the rep lacement filter assembly.
- Use new O-ring seals and check pipe connections for signs of leakage.
- Lower the vehicle, reposition the trim panel and reconnect the battery.
- Refill the fuel tank.
