PDU - 1010 VDV, Engine Management Diagnosics: Overview

PDU-3

PDU Software Issue 1010

MODEL 1995 XJS 4.0L DATE 7/94

INTRODUCTION

Software issue PDU 1010 will provide two new features:

^ Vehicle Data Viewer (VDV)
^ 1995 MY AJ16 Engine Management Diagnostics

VEHICLE DATA VIEWER

Vehicle Data Viewer (VDV) is an enhanced version of the JDS electrical connector database specifically tailored to FDU. It can be accessed while in the Diagnostic menu by pressing the star (*) button at the bottom right of the screen. This software provides the user with the location of any connector associated with the diagnostic software. The electrical connector information is presented several ways.

1. Select the connector from a list of all of the available connectors.

When VDV is selected it will present a list of connectors in a similar manner to JDS (Alphabetically/Numerically arranged).

To select a connector from this list:

^ Scroll through the list using the Up & Down arrows
^ Touch the screen to highlight the connector in question
^ Press the "eye" icon at the bottom of the screen to view the connector
^ Press the "magnifying glass" icon to see a horizontal view of connector location in the vehicle
^ Press the "eye" icon for an overhead view of the connector location in the vehicle

2. Type in the connector name using PDU's touch sensitive keyboard.

In some instances it will be faster to type in the connector name, instead of scrolling through the list.

To type in the name:

^ Press the "123" icon at the bottom of the screen
^ Type in the connector name exactly using the keyboard display. Every connector consists of 5 characters. ie: AC003 not AC3, LI080 not LI80.
^ Press the "Checkmark Symbol" icon when complete.

^ Press the "eye" icon at the bottom of the screen to view the connector
^ Press the "magnifying glass" icon to see a horizontal view of connector location in the vehicle
^ Press the "eye" icon for an overhead view of the connector location in the vehicle

Once the connector to be viewed has been selected, by any of the above methods, a screen displaying one view of the connector will be displayed. The top line of the screen indicates which view is being shown together with the connector name. The second line details the connector type and color. Pressing the "down arrow" icon will cause the text to scroll thus showing the connectors location. The main part of the screen shows one of the possible views of the connector selected. By pressing the "eye" icon at the bottom of the screen, the view displayed can be changed. Repeatedly pressing this icon will scroll through all of the various views of the selected connector.

NOTE:
PDU displays harness connector housing sex (male or female) and not pin sex. This is the opposite of JDS.

The "six wire" or "spider" icon at the bottom of the screen will display the pin wire information for the selected connector.
