Radio - Poor AM Reception - System Information

MODEL
Sedan Range 1995 MY

DATE
3/95

ISSUE:

When passing under high tension wires or other sources of electrical interference, the 1995 MY Sedan Range radio may hum or buzz if tuned to the AM band with the bass adjusted to a high level.

AM radio broadcast program content is carried on the upper frequency band. The lower band carries no information and is very susceptible to electrical interference and noise.

The increased bass response designed into 1995 MY Sedan Range radios will amplify any electrical interference if the bass level is set above the null or zero position.

ACTION:

If a Jaguar owner complains of noise or audible electrical interference when tuned to AM radio and driving under high tension wires or other sources of electrical interference, check that the bass control is not set to a high level.

Explain to the customer that the bass and treble levels can be set separately for the AM, FM, Cassette and CD modes. Selling the bass level to the zero or null position for AM reception will reduce the level of interference.
