Service brakes must be properly adjusted before adjusting parking brake mechanism.
1. Fully apply and release parking brake lever approximately five times.
2. Pull parking brake lever up to 5th click, then raise and support vehicle.
3. Install adjustment gauge tool J-34651 onto an inch lb. torque wrench, then apply a 45---55 inch lb. load to cable.
4. Adjust equalizer nut until gauge pointer is in Green range, then repeat Step 1.
5. Recheck adjustment. If adjustment is correct, stake nut to maintain setting, then lower vehicle.
