Cruise Control: Adjustments

REGULATOR ADJUSTMENTS
The regulator adjustments are pre-set by the manufacturer. However, if all of the other components of the system appear to be functioning normally and the speed control system remains inoperative, perform the adjustments below to determine if the regulator is working properly.

Fig. 11 Speed control regulator adjustments:

Pre-Adjustment
Turn the sensitivity adjustment screw fully clockwise, and the low speed and centering adjusting screws to the 10 o'clock position as shown. The adjustment screws are extremely delicate. Insert the screwdriver into the slots carefully to avoid damaging regulator.

Centering Adjustment
Road test vehicle and observe engagement speed. If speed control engages at 2 mph or greater than the selected road speed, turn centering adjusting screw counterclockwise in small increments. If engagement speed is 2 or more mph below selected speed, turn adjusting screw clockwise in small increments. Check for proper centering adjustment by engaging speed control system on a level road after each adjustment is completed. If adjustments have no effect on system operation, replace the regulator.
