Initial Choke Valve Clearance & Fast Idle Cam Linkage

1. Remove choke cover shield.
2. Grind off choke cap rivet heads or loosen retaining screws. Remove rivet bodies using a suitable punch, then install replacement retaining screws, if equipped.
3. Open throttle and rotate choke cover until choke valve is held closed, then tighten one of the retaining screws.
4. Position fast idle adjusting screw on high step of fast idle cam.
5. Using a suitable hand held vacuum pump, apply vacuum to choke diaphragm to hold diaphragm against set screw, Fig. 4.
6. Measure clearance between lower of choke valve and air horn wall.
7. If clearance is not within limits, adjust by turning screw located at rear of choke diaphragm, Fig. 5.
8. Place fast idle adjusting screw on second step of fast idle cam.
9. Measure clearance between upper edge of choke valve and air horn wall.
10. If clearance is not within limits, adjust by turning fast idle cam lever screw.
11. Loosen choke cover retaining screw and position cover at specified index mark, then tighten cover retaining screws.
12. Reinstall choke shield.
