Clutch System Bleed


EXCEPT WRANGLER

1. Ensure that clutch master cylinder is adequately filled, then raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove slave cylinder from clutch housing and disconnect pushrod from cylinder.
3. Compress slave cylinder plunger using clamp J-24420-A or equivalent.
4. Attach suitable flexible tubing to slave cylinder bleed screw and immerse other end of tube in container filled halfway with clean brake fluid, ensuring that hose end remains submerged in fluid.
5. Loose bleed screw, have assistant fully depress and hold clutch pedal, tighten bleed screw, then release clutch pedal. Do not allow clutch pedal to be released while bleed screw is open, and do not allow master cylinder to run out of fluid during bleeding.
6. Repeat step 5 until all air is purged from system, then reinstall slave cylinder, ensure that clutch master cylinder is adequately filled and check clutch release mechanism operation.
