With Non-Intermittent Wipers
Fig. 1 Wiper switch continuity chart:
The two speed electric motor, located in the lower left corner of the windshield, is protected by a 4.5 amp circuit breaker on 1980---86 models. With the wiper switch in low speed position, current flows from the fuse panel to wiper switch terminal B, through the wiper switch to terminal 2. Current continues to flow through green wire to motor low speed brush and through the armature to ground.
When the wiper switch is moved to high position, current flows from the fuse panel to wiper switch terminal B, then through the wiper switch to terminal 3. Current continues to flow through red wire to motor high speed brush and through the armature to ground.
In the off position, current flows from the fuse panel to wiper switch terminal B and through the wiper switch to terminal 1. Current then flows through black wire to park contact points to motor low speed brush and through the armature to ground. When park contact points are opened by cam on wiper drive gear, the feed circuit to motor low speed brush is interrupted and motor is in park.
