Diagnostic Strategies
The following sequential checks are performed with the speed switch in the On position and vehicle speed faster than 35 mph.
1. Press SET button. Speed should maintain set speed.
2. Hold SET button in, and remove foot from accelerator. Vehicle should coast to a slower speed.
3. Release SET button. Speed control will engage and hold a slower speed, provided speed remains above 35 mph.
4. Slide speed switch to R/A and hold in this position. Vehicle should accelerate.
5. Release speed switch. Vehicle will hold new faster speed.
6. Tap brake pedal. Vehicle will decelerate.
7. If vehicle has a manual transmission, repeat step 6 using clutch pedal.
8. Slide speed switch momentarily to R/A position. Vehicle should accelerate to former speed.
9. While cruising, accelerate then remove foot from accelerator. Vehicle will coast down to set speed.
10. While speed is engaged, tap SET speed button. Vehicle speed will increase one mph for each time SET speed button is tapped.
INOPERATIVE SYSTEM
If road test verifies an inoperative system check and verify the following:
1. Inspect system electrical connections for loose, corrosion or bent terminals.
2. Verify correct installation and condition of vacuum hoses.
3. Check for correct installation of vacuum check valve. End marked VAC must point toward vacuum source.
