Flow of Diagnosis
Flow Of Diagnosis:
1. Get an accurate description of the customer complaint. Road test vehicle to verify. Perform underhood inspection. For further description of complaint use DRIVEABILITY WORKSHEET AND VEHICLE REPAIR HISTORY FORMS, refer to Information Type/Technical/Management Support for forms.
VISUALLY CHECK:
^ Vacuum hoses for splits, kinks, and proper routing.
^ Ignition wiring for cracking, hardness, and proper connections at both the distributor and spark plugs.
^ All wiring for proper connections, pinches and cuts.
^ Wiring harness for proper routing.
^ Check for missing components.
2. Check TSB'S for manual updates, testing procedures, warranty and recall information.
3. Verify ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS are working properly and no fault codes are stored.
If no codes are stored and the system is working properly proceed to the next step.
4. The FUEL SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS section, located in TESTING PROCEDURES, provides a comprehensive approach to diagnosing the fuel delivery system. This test assumes that the engine is mechanically sound, and the ignition system is providing a good spark at the plugs. If this is not a valid assumption, check for good spark at plugs, and engine condition before proceeding. Refer to appropriate section for testing procedures.
5. See DIAGNOSIS BY SYMPTOM under TESTING PROCEDURES, for symptom vehicle is exhibiting. Follow procedures as outlined for given symptom.
