Brakes and Traction Control: Service and Repair
COMPONENT SERVICEThe master cylinder/power booster unit, pressure modulator, booster pump/motor assembly and the proportioning valve/pressure differential switch are not repairable components. If diagnosis indicates a malfunction in one of these components, the faulty assembly must be replaced.
The fluid level switch in the master cylinder and the boost pressure switch in the modulator are also not serviceable. The switches cannot be removed from their respective components.
The accumulator, master cylinder reservoir filter and cap, Electronic Control Unit (ECU), electrical harnesses, wheel sensors and individual brake lines and hoses are all replaceable components.
The tone wheels are permanently attached to the axle shafts and are not replaceable. If a tone wheel becomes damaged, it will be necessary to replace the tone wheel and axle shaft as an assembly.
The wheel brake components such as the calipers, brake shoes, wheel cylinders, rotors and drums are all serviced the same as standard brake system components.
