Drive Belt: Service and Repair

Belt tension is adjusted at the power steering pump or idler pulley if not equipped with power steering.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Loosen power steering or idler pulley rear mounting bolts, Figs. 18 and 19.
3. Loosen power steering pump pivot bolt and locknut.
4. Loosen adjusting bolt to remove belt, Figs. 20 and 21.
5. Tighten to adjust belt tension. Refer to Engine/Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories/Drive Belt/Specifications.
6. Connect battery ground cable.
