Service Procedure for 1988-1990 Eagle Premier/Dodge Monaco (BB) Vehicles

1. Raise vehicle to working level on an appropriate hoist.

2. Remove both front wheel and tire assemblies.





3. Remove the caliper slide pins (mounting bolts) (Figure 6).





4. Pull the caliper away from the mounting bracket and set the caliper aside (Figure 7). Use a pry tool if necessary. Secure the caliper to the suspension with a wire. Do not allow the brake hose to support the weight of the caliper.





5. Remove the outboard and inboard brake shoes from the caliper bracket (Figure 8).





6. Remove the caliper bracket (Figure 9).





7. Remove the retainers that secure the brake rotor to the hub studs (Figure 10).

8. Remove and discard the brake rotor.

9. Clean the wheel hub with a wire brush.

10. Remove the protective coating from the new rotor.

11. Install a new rotor on the hub.

12. Install the caliper bracket (Figure 9). Tighten the bracket bolts to 70 ft-lbs (95 N.m).

13. Install the inboard and outboard brake shoes on the caliper bracket (Figure 8).

14. Install the caliper over the brake shoes and caliper bracket. Tighten the slide pins/mounting bolts to 18 ft-lbs (25 N.m).

15. Repeat Steps 3-14 for the other front brake rotor.

16. Install both front wheel and tire assemblies. Tighten the lug nuts to 75 ft-lbs (102 N.m).

17. Lower the vehicle.

18. Pump the brake pedal to seat the caliper piston and brake shoes.

19. Check the brake fluid level and adjust as necessary.

20. Road test the vehicle to verify proper brake operation.
