Service Procedure for 1991 Eagle Premier/Dodge Monaco (BB) Vehicles

1. Raise vehicle to working level on an appropriate hoist.

2. Remove both front wheel and tire assemblies.





3. Remove the caliper guide pins (mounting bolts) (Figure 11).





4. Wedge the caliper away from the brake rotor (Figure 12). Use a pry bar to break the gasket adhesive seals, if necessary.

5. Pull the caliper away from the brake rotor by slowly sliding the caliper assembly out and away. Secure the caliper to the suspension with a wire. Do not allow the brake hose to support the weight of the caliper.





6. Remove the outboard brake shoe assembly (Figure 13).

7. Remove the retainers that secure the brake rotor to the hub studs.





8. Remove and discard the brake rotor (Figure 14).

9. Clean the wheel hub with a wire brush.

10. Remove the protective coating from the new rotor.

11. Install a new rotor on the hub.

12. Install the outboard brake shoe assembly (Figure 13).

13. Install the caliper assembly over the brake rotor and brake shoe assemblies (Figure 12).

14. Install the caliper guide pins/mounting bolts and tighten to 30 ft-lbs (35 N.m).

15. Repeat Steps 3-14 for the other front brake rotor.

16. Install both front wheel and tire assemblies. Tighten the lug nuts to 75 ft-lbs (102 N.m).

17. Lower the vehicle.

18. Pump the brake pedal to seat the caliper piston and brake shoes.

19. Check the brake fluid level and adjust as necessary.

20. Road test the vehicle to verify proper brake operation.
