Safety Recall # 747 -- Front Brake Rotors

^ This service requirement applies only to the vehicles listed below that were sold or are currently registered in "Salt Belt" states (where large amounts of road salt are used for snow and ice removal):

^ 1990-1991 Model Year Four Wheel Drive (4WD) Jeep Cherokee and Wagoneer (XJ), Comanche (MJ) and Wrangler (YJ) Vehicles

^ 1993 Model Year Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Wagoneer (ZJ) Vehicles

^ 1988 Through 1991 Model Year Eagle Premier and 1990-1991 Dodge Monaco (BB) Vehicles

^ Corrosion of the front brake rotors on the above listed vehicles, may cause separation of the rotor disc from the center hub (hat) section. This condition results from operating the vehicle for extended periods in geographic areas using large amounts of road salt for snow and ice removal. To correct this condition, both front brake rotors must be replaced. This recall does NOT include replacement of any other brake components. If mother brake service is required (brake shoe and lining, caliper, etc.), the additional associated costs are the owner's responsibility.

^ The following states are "Salt Belt" states:

Connecticut Michigan Pennsylvania
Illinois New Hampshire Rhode Island
Indiana New Jersey Vermont
Maine New York Washington D.C.

Parts Packages:

^ Three (3) unique parts are required for this recall depending upon the vehicle and model year. Each involved dealer, to whom vehicles in the recall were invoiced, will receive enough of each brake rotor to service about 25% of those vehicles.

Dealers should determine which parts are required for each vehicle at the time appointments are scheduled to assure that the correct parts are available when the customer arrives. Refer to the Parts section for details.
