Power Steering Pressure Switch: Service and Repair

POWER STEERING PRESSURE SWITCH

The power steering pressure switch is installed in the power steering high-pressure hose (Fig. 41).

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the power steering pressure switch.
2. Place a small container or shop towel beneath the switch to collect any excess fluid.
3. Remove the switch.


INSTALLATION
1. Install the power steering switch into power steering line.
2. Tighten to 14 to 22 Nm (124 to 195 in. lbs.).
3. Connect the electrical connector to the switch.
4. Check power steering fluid and add as necessary.
5. Start the engine and again check power steering fluid. Add fluid if necessary.
