DEALER SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS

Safety Recall # 755 -- Fuel Tank Sending Unit

^ This service requirement applies only to:

^ 1997 Model Year Jeep Grand Cherokee (ZJ) Vehicles Built Through June 1, 1997 (MDH 060108)

^ 1997 Model Year Jeep Cherokee (XJ) Vehicles Built Through May 9, 1997 (MDH 050919)

^ 1997 Model Year Jeep Wrangler (TJ) Vehicles Equipped With a:

^ 19 Gallon Fuel Tank (Sales Code -- NF1) Built Through May 9, 1997 (MDH 050907)

^ 15 Gallon Fuel Tank (Sales Code -- NFS) Built Through May 13, 1997 (MDH 051323)

^ The fuel tank level sending unit on the above listed vehicles may cause the fuel gauge to display an inaccurate fuel level. To correct this condition the fuel tank level sending unit must be replaced.

^ Effective immediately all repairs on involved vehicles are to be performed according to this Recall Notification. The Labor Operation Number for TSB 08-19-97 Rev. A is being canceled. Vehicles that have had the TSB repair performed have been removed from this recall.

^ This recall will be launched in phases. Owners of Grand Cherokee (ZJ) and Cherokee (XJ) vehicles built through November 30, 1996 (MDH II 3OXX) will be notified initially.

Parts Packages:

^ Each involved dealer to whom vehicles in the recall were invoiced will receive enough Sending Unit Packages to service about 25% of their Phase 1 vehicles.
