Soft Top Windows Appear Foggy or Hazy

DISCUSSION:
1999 Wranglers may arrive at the dealership with a film on the soft top windows which may appear foggy or hazy. This could be residue left on the vehicle during the manufacturing process. This film may be difficult to clean using the recommended procedures outlined in the owners manual but can be cleaned using isopropyl alcohol to avoid replacement.

To clean the windows, make sure that the vehicle is in a cool shaded area and is not in direct sunlight. The surface of the windows must not be hotter than 90 degrees F. Clean the windows using a cheesecloth saturated with isopropyl alcohol, gently rubbing the window to avoid scratching the material. Remove any liquid alcohol from the top immediately using dry cheesecloth. Do not use paper towels, shop rags or any other material, which could scratch the window material. Do not use any commercial window cleaners. Cleaners containing ammonia can permanently damage the top and windows.
