Emissions Recalls # 8061 and # 8062 -- Spark Plugs

^ This service requirement applies only to certain 1999 model year Jeep Cherokee (XJ) and Wrangler (TJ) vehicles equipped with a 2.5L or 4.0L engine, built through August 12, 1998 (MDH 0812XX) and equipped with a:

^ Federal Emission Control System (Sales Code -- NAA) -- Recall # 8061

^ California Emission Control System (Sales Code -- NAE) -- Recall # 8062

Most of the vehicles within the above build period have already had all spark plugs replaced and therefore, have been excluded from this recall.

^ The spark plugs on the above listed vehicles may fail. This will cause the engine to misfire and illuminate the Check Engine" light. To correct this condition, all spark plugs must be replaced on the affected vehicles. Vehicles involved in this recall require spark plug replacement one time only.

^ For vehicles involved in Recall # 8062 located in California: Be sure to provide a Vehicle Emission Recall Proof of Correction Form (Form No. 81-O16-1053) to each owner upon completion of the recall service, for owner use as proof during renewal of the vehicle registration.

^ Dealers are encouraged to consider alternative scheduling and servicing approaches for this recall. This repair does not require hoists or other full service facility special equipment and is a CHRYSLER MOBILE SERVICE approved repair.

Parts Packages:

^ Due to the likelihood that the required spark plugs are already in your parts inventory, no parts will be distributed initially for this recall.
