Shift Solenoids
Two solenoids are used to control shifting. Solenoid A is used to control the 1-2 shift and the 3-4 shift. Solenoid B is used to control the 2-3 shift. Solenoid C controls the operation of the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC). The TCC solenoid is controlled by the
TCM. The TCC can be engaged in 2nd, 3rd and fourth gear. The TCC can not be engaged in 1st gear, because it is hydraulically locked out in 1st gear. If the TCM turns off the solenoids and a voltage is detected on the control circuit a DTC will be set.
