Recirculation Air Door Replacement

REMOVAL
A recirculation door and vacuum actuator are used only on models with the optional air conditioning system.

WARNING:
- ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AIRBAGS, DISABLE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY STEERING WHEEL, STEERING COLUMN, OR INSTRUMENT PANEL COMPONENT DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. DISCONNECT AND ISOLATE THE BATTERY NEGATIVE (GROUND) CABLE, THEN WAIT TWO MINUTES FOR THE AIRBAG SYSTEM CAPACITOR TO DISCHARGE BEFORE PERFORMING FURTHER DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. THIS IS THE ONLY SURE WAY TO DISABLE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. FAILURE TO TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.
- IF THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AIR CONDITIONING, REVIEW THE WARNINGS AND CAUTIONS IN PLUMBING BEFORE PERFORMING THE FOLLOWING OPERATION.

1. Remove and disassemble the HVAC housing. Refer to: Heating and Air Conditioning, Housing Assembly HVAC, Service and Repair,

2. Remove the recirculation door vacuum actuator from the lower HVAC housing. Refer to: Heating and Air Conditioning, Air Door, HVAC, Air Door Actuator / Motor, HVAC, Service and Repair Procedures, Fresh Air / Recirculation Actuator Replacement, Fresh Air/Recirculation Actuator Replacement

3. Reach inside the lower half of the HVAC housing and lift the bottom edge of the recirculation door upwards.
4. Guide the recirculation door lever through the air intake grille of the HVAC housing while removing the door from the housing.

INSTALLATION
1. Guide the recirculation door lever through the air intake grille of the HVAC housing while installing the door in the housing.
2. Install the recirculation door vacuum actuator on the lower HVAC housing. Refer to: Heating and Air Conditioning, Air Door, HVAC, Air Door Actuator / Motor, HVAC, Service and Repair Procedures, Fresh Air / Recirculation Actuator Replacement, Fresh Air/Recirculation Actuator Replacement

3. Assemble the HVAC housing. Refer to: Heating and Air Conditioning, Housing Assembly HVAC, Service and Repair, Procedures, HVAC Housing Disassembly and Assembly, Overhaul

4. Install the HVAC housing in the vehicle. Refer to: Heating and Air Conditioning, Housing Assembly HVAC, Service and Repair, Procedures, HVAC Housing Removal and Installation, Removal and Replacement
