Glove Box Check Strap Replacement
GLOVE BOX CHECK STRAPWARNING: ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AIRBAGS, DISABLE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY STEERING WHEEL, STEERING COLUMN, OR INSTRUMENT PANEL COMPONENT DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. DISCONNECT AND ISOLATE THE BATTERY NEGATIVE (GROUND) CABLE, THEN WAIT TWO MINUTES FOR THE AIRBAG SYSTEM CAPACITOR TO DISCHARGE BEFORE PERFORMING FURTHER DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. THIS IS THE ONLY SURE WAY TO DISABLE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. FAILURE TO TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Remove the glove box from the instrument panel.

3. Remove the screw that secures the glove box check strap to the instrument panel on the upper glove box opening reinforcement.
4. Remove the check strap from the upper glove box opening reinforcement.
INSTALLATION
1. Position the check strap to the upper glove box opening reinforcement.
2. Install and tighten the screw that secures the glove box check strap to the upper glove box opening reinforcement. Tighten the screw to 2 N.m (20 in. lbs.).
3. Reinstall the glove box onto the instrument panel.
4. Reconnect the battery negative cable.
